Connor-isms

Connor and I went shopping this morning. I explained how we buy presents and hide them until we give them to someone as a surprise. When we got home, he said, "We got you a shirt, Dada, but it's hiding."

While driving in traffic...
Connor: Why they go slow? Tell them to go faster!

Seeing the beach for the first time as we drive up...
Are you kidding me?!?

During a conversation about kindergarten and school...
Soon I'm gonna go to high school. You don't take naps. You just play.

Connor: Mama, what are you doing with that American flag? [how does he know what an American flag is?!?] Me: Next week is America's birthday. Connor: Do we get presents?

Connor: Mama, I wanna watch my tv show.
Me: No, I'm watching my show called "Big Brother." It's about a big brother. Who's a big brother?
Connor: Me! I wanna watch your show!

Me: Ugh, my shirt is wrinkled.
Connor: That's okay, Mama, wrinkles are fun!

"Dada, you're the only one that can pick my nose, right?"

When I lay on her [Caylee], it makes me happy.

Entering a port-a-potty for the first time...
It looks like a trash can.

Let's play Mommy & Daddy.  I'm the mommy!

I have a purse.  Let's go shopping, guys!"

"Hi."

Our little cutie somehow learned to pick up her toy cell phone and say "hi."
She loves that thing!  Wonder where she got that from...

Milestones at 13 months

Somehow, all these big milestones are happening in such a short time!  She's growing up before our eyes and it's all happening so fast.  I feel like 13 months seems to be such a momentous age for her.

• I went upstairs to change Caylee's sheets and Connor ran up the stairs.  Caylee crawled in behind him which means she somehow crawled up the stairs all by herself! I didn't even know she could get up one step!

• Officially waving hello and goodbye

• First tooth popped

• Working on standing by herself

• Drank from a straw

• First taste of German food (brats, sauerkraut, etc)

• Trying to talk! Sometimes we think she's saying random words, but who knows? We thought we heard Connor a couple times which wouldn't be surprising since we yell it so often in our house.

• Next week, she'll spend her first few nights away from me :(  It's going to be hard for both of us (or maybe just me), but it's probably time to do it.

"Uh-oh"

If you can consider this a word, it would be Caylee's first word.  (It's funny because that was Connor's first "word" too!)  In the last couple of weeks, we've started to notice that she uses it appropriately when she drops something...or drops something on purpose and then she says it.  I haven't gotten it on video get, but I hope I can soon!

Connor-isms

He reached down Daddy's shirt and said, "These are for Baby Caylee, right?"

After Daddy went potty at Target, he yelled loudly, "Daddy, did you go poo poo?"

Me: What's your favorite thing to do with mama?
Connor: I like to do circus tricks!

Connor: No, Mama, I'm just tendering! [pretending]

Connor: Mama, are you kidding me?

Connor looking at my wedding ring: This is very pretty.  I like it.

Connor: After I put my clothes on, you say "Yay," okay?

Connor in the morning when I woke him up: Mommy, can I bring my toys to school today because I love them?

Connor and I talking in the car about hats: You have a small head and I have a big head.

Connor: Mama, can I have the keys to start the car?
Me: No, you have to be 16 to drive a car.  You're 3.

Connor: I'm cold.  Baby Caylee will keep me warm.

Connor: It's 5 in the clock, mama.

Connor: I need to take a shower because I'm stinky.

Me: Do you know what number you call to call the fireman?
Connor: Connor!

 I'm not silly...I'm Connor!

While listening to "All About That Bass"...
Connor: Mama, I like the base! I play on the base at baseball!

Me: I don't want to hear this truck playing music all night.
Connor: How about you go and I play?

Me: Baby Caylee doesn't have a Bears jersey like you.
Connor: I buy her one.

Connor: I'm tired.
Me: I'm sorry you're tired.
Connor: I'm not tired! ... I'm tired!

Me: What should Santa bring for Mama?
Connor: A rooster.
(Later, he changed it to a Minion.)

Me: Did you like the carrots at dinner?
Connor: No, they weren't tasty.

Mickey: Wanna come inside my clubhouse? [like we've heard for the zillionth time]
Connor: No, I wanna stay in my home.

Connor: Mama, I'm gonna win you!

Connor: I wanna hear the song "All the Bass."  It's my favorite!

Connor: What's that?
Me: a turkey [picture of a Thanksgiving turkey on a plate]
Connor: Why is it sleeping?

Tucking him into bed...

Daddy: What is Bristol?
Connor: A dog!

Me: Connor, do you know how to play Duck Duck Goose?
Connor got on his hands and knees: Crawl like a duck...fly in the sky!

Connor: No! Mama drinks juice! [Mama juice = beer]

Heard on our drive home today...
Me: Connor, some people drive cars or trucks to work and school and some people take trains or a bus.

Connor: Mama, fix it!

Me: Sorry, I don't think I can fix it.

Our Week

He's so funny and creative lately!  He wanted to eat a pear, but before he could eat it, he wanted to take a picture of it.

Why? Because the wallpaper on Dada's phone is a picture of him holding a pear.

Last session of tumbling before break!  They got 2 stickers for the last day.

On Saturday, we went to Wildfire with Grammy and Grandpa.  I was a little nervous about taking him to such a nice place, but he did awesome!  Grammy entertained him while we waited for food by playing "This little piggy."

Before he dug in, he said, "I eat all this."

Posing for the camera!

Trying on Grandpa's glasses

He randomly decided he wanted to eat an apple one night.  I let him stay up late just so he could finish it.

He devoured it!  "Mama, lay down!"

This kid cracks me up! I haven't touched this book in 3 years and he pulled it out of the bookshelf.  He's reading up on how to take care of his baby sister :)

"Jersey Shore" has rubbed off on him

Last night, we were joking around when we realized that I've been teaching Connor "Jersey Shore" quotes for over a year and I didn't even know it.
It started with "Bath tiiiiime!" when he was a baby and it's expanded to everything we can think of. I added "Diaper tiiiime!" and a few others and now he says it for EVERYTHING. Last night, I told him we were going to put away laundry and he said, "Hanger tiiiime!"
So we've taken Pauly D's "T-shirt tiiiime!" and turned it into our family motto.  :)

Connor's Spider Funny

I'm cracking up at my desk right now as I type this...
Last night, Connor had some fluid in his ear and I wanted to get a closer look.  I told him I had to get the spider out of his ear and tried to "grab it," but really, I was cleaning the puss out.  When I was done, I told him it ran under the dresser and he didn't look fast enough to see it.  Oh no! So this morning, Daddy just told me that Connor is now telling everyone he has a spider in his ear.
