Our Week

Connor had a little cold all week and we could tell he wasn't feel so good.  His nose was runny, but he was still acting normal.  He just looks so sad in this photo I took one morning after he got dressed.

I call him the Grape Monster or the Blueberry Monster because he loves his fruit!  He likes to pick the fruit off the stem all by himself and then give us the little stems he's not supposed to eat.

Connor wants to be like his Mommy!  He stole my necklace one morning and I grabbed my phone to catch a couple photos of the cuteness.

He ran over to the shower to show Daddy his necklace!

Connor and Daddy put together my new shelves for my closet.  It's always shocking to me how he just knows what to do with tools and he's so interested in helping Daddy put things together!

Singing "Happy Birthday"

There are a lot of kids in Connor's daycare class with birthdays over the summer and he shocked us when he started singing "Happy Birthday" last week.  I finally got it on video!

Our Weekend

Connor had some special babysitters on Saturday - Aunt Julie & Uncle Sam!  They had lunch together, played at the park and colored while Daddy and I were gone.

After they left, Connor insisted on oatmeal for dinner.  Big mess!

It was pretty warm so we played outside with water in the backyard.  Connor got to try out his new ducky watering can too.

On Sunday, we did a little shopping at Target and then stopped by a new park to play.  The park was recently redone so everything was perfect and brand new!

He's so adorable here!

Our Week

It's rare to get a photo of him sleeping, so I love these.  He's using his wub as a pillow!

I asked him if he was drawing a portrait of Kitty and he said, "Yes."

Silly selfies!

We had craft night one day after dinner since it was too hot to play outside.  He loves his play-doh!

Daddy gave him an apple on Wednesday night when I was out with some moms for dinner.  So adorable!
He loves eating them now and Daddy insists he likes the green ones best.
I say gala apples are the best!

23 months!

Wait, what?  My baby is almost two!

23 Month Stats:
Weight: ?  Height: ?

23 Month Milestones:

• My new favorite phrase: "Mama [Dada], sit down!"
• He loves to talk on the phone and will try to have a conversation with whoever is calling
• Favorite foods of the month: grapes, yogurt, string cheese, pouches, ice cream (when he's allowed to have it)
• Getting more independent and wanting to sit in a regular chair instead of high chair sometimes
• Loves playing outside (just like he has all summer) and enjoys the sprinkler and baby bath filled with water in the backyard
• Asks to take showers every morning, but we usually only have times on weekends
• His new favorite song to sing is "The Farmer in the Dell" and "Happy Birthday"
• Has about 120 words that I've been able to record, plus he knows several songs
• Attention span is getting a little better.  He will watch about a minute of an Elmo Youtube video!
• He's only able to identify the color blue and will give that as his answer for any color when asked.  He somehow picked up on black and will now sometimes answer with that as well.
• He's turning into a clean freak!  He points out anything that he thinks is messy.  "Messy!" or "Icky!"  He always loves to help clean up by using a paper towel or rag that we give him.  When he peed on the floor after a bath, he immediately said, "Messy!" and ran to the cabinet to get a rag to clean it.

• I had a parent/teacher conference at daycare and he seems to be doing very well.  The teacher said he's very outgoing and always one of the more social ones.  He always participates in group activities and will watch the other kids and follow along.  He has a huge and impressive appetite and always want his food RIGHT NOW.  They are trying to teach him patience and learning to wait as we are at home too.  The teacher was also shocked that he's a lot more picky with food at home when he eats everything at daycare.  He LOVES storytime, especially when Miss Helga reads from the felt storyboards.  She made a point to say how he will sit for 45 minutes at a time and keep begging for more stories!  The kids' favorite is a story about animals, so when they see her, they all run to the closet for the storyboard and yell, "EIEIO!"  I witnesses this firsthand before my conference and it's adorable.  His language development is great and he's learning a lot of new words all the time.  I told her we are always thinking a ADHD in the back of our mind, but she said she didn't seem to notice any symptoms and had an average attention span for his age.  I'm very happy with our daycare and he absolutely loves going every day.

Climbing a Ladder

On Sunday morning, we did a little yard work outside.  Connor was a great helper!  He helped us gather sticks and leaves and then put them into bags.  He also helped sweep the patio with his favorite brook.  But his favorite part of the morning was trying to climb up Daddy's big ladder!

I didn't really want him to, but I decided they're almost the same as a playground ladder and he still has trouble with them.

Shockingly enough, he climbed...
and climbed...

and climbed!  We let him go up until Daddy's head and then he had to come down.  Connor had a very long 3.5 hour nap after that!

Splash Pad Summer Fun

On Saturday, we had a special playdate with Lincoln at the splashpad.  Connor was strangely very scared and wouldn't leave my side.  He's usually very outgoing and loves water, so it was a little odd for him.

I finally tricked him into splashing in one of the smaller sprayers when we ran through holding hands.  He loved it and kept saying, "Again!" so we'd go through another time.

The boys worked up an appetite and had a snack in the shade.

We went back in the water for a bit and then got changed for lunch.  There were a bunch of geese and ducks hanging around the park and Connor ran right up to them to try to get close.
We went over to Panera for a yummy lunch.  Connor had his favorite mac & cheese and stole a couple of Lincoln's apples when he wasn't looking.  He shared his extra mac & cheese with Lincoln too.  We had a great time with our friends and he was passed out 3 minutes after we left!
