These are some of the phrases that he has shocked us with recently:
• Excuse me, Dada, excuse me!
• Ready, set go!
• I did it
• Go away!
• Excuse me (after a burp)
• Sang the ABCs with Mommy (Sept 16th)
• Down, Kitty, down!
• Recited most of the 1, 2 Buckle My Shoe book as we turned pages (Sept 25th)
• Snowman (when asked what it was in a book)

Firefighter Connor to the rescue!
On Saturday, we went to a fire department open house. That morning, I tried to explain to Connor what sound a fire truck makes (woop woop!) so he would understand when we got there. We got adorable little fireman hats, but Connor wanted to carry his rather than wear it. It took a little time for him to get comfortable being there because I think the giant dalmation walking around and meeting kids scared him! Once he calmed down, he loved looking at all the fire vehicles and their tools inside.

He got to sit in two different fire trucks!
When we got to the ambulance, they had a little car seat with a baby doll so we could see how they transport small children. I explained to Connor that if you have an owie, you can go in the big red truck and they will help you feel better. So now, every time he sees a fire truck, police car, or ambulance, he says, "Owie owie."
We went to a lot of different demonstrations and little informational booths and it was actually very interesting even for me! Everyone there was so nice and friendly and they really wanted to make it fun for the kids. I'm so excited to go again next year when he can understand a little more.

Bradley University offspring
I was reading the newest issue of the Bradley University alumni newsletter when I found this...
I think I know who they're referring to! MY KID!
I'm pretty sure I posted about this back when it happened, but I can't find the original blog post. In the winter issue, they featured Connor wearing his Bradley t-shirt with a little blurb about how we picked his middle name to honor the college we met at. This note from another alum was so sweet to see! We actually found out that another boy in Connor's daycare class also has the middle name Bradley after the school where his parents met. I guess it's more common than we thought! But it's also great to see how many people really loved going to that school and how it remained such a wonderful memory even after they graduated.

New Vacuum
Connor got a vacuum from Aunt Julie & Uncle Sam for his birthday and we finally took it out of the box and put the batteries in. I love his face when he finally heard the vac turn on for the first time!
The vac doesn't really work that well and it doesn't roll on the carpet easily, but whatever...he thinks it's fun!
Buffalo Grove Kite Fest
Sunday was gorgeous out and perfect weather for the Kite Fest. Unfortunately, it was so nice that there wasn't enough wind to make the kites fly! Nonetheless, we still had fun attending this event and it was nice to spend some time outside as a family.
We started out by making a little "kite" at the tables they had set up. Connor helped to color, glue and cut his blue kite. I also witnessed him trying to use a scissors for the first time and he did pretty well!

We walked with our kite over to the grassy area where people were trying to fly kites.

I bought Connor a kite for his birthday specifically to bring to this event, but we didn't even take it out of the car. We figured we'd do it another day when there was more wind and he could enjoy it more. But we still sat on the grass and watched some of the others trying to fly their kites.
When we realized no one was going to get their kites up, we went over to the playground and Connor had a blast playing!

Our Week
Daddy should know better. I cringe that he let Connor wear socks and sandals to daycare!

Fun in the bathtub!
I had to take a photo to capture Connor dipping his veggie muffin in ketchup. Gross, but he loved it!
Hanging out in the basement while Daddy fixed the receiver. We're getting him started early on the Fast & Furious movies!
