An Ikea Playdate

On Monday morning, we had a special opportunity to meet up with some of Mommy's friends and their little ones at Ikea.  When we got to the kids' section, everyone got out of their carts and strollers to play.

They had a great time playing on some of the childrens' toys and holding the soft doggie toy.

I think this little chair was Connor's favorite when he realized he could play peek-a-boo with it.

Everyone took turns sitting in the chair and it was adorable to watch!

Our new friends had to leave quickly, but hopefully we can meet them again soon.  Connor and I kept shopping and picked out a few things that we needed.  He got some new colorful plasticware and plates for the kitchen and we also picked out a small table and chairs so we can work on crafts!

Family Fun on Sunday

The 3-day holiday weekend was great and we had extra time to spend together as a family.  Sunday morning was a little cold, but it wasn't raining, so we headed out for some fun.  Our first stop was the park where it seems like there's always a bunch of dads and their kids and I'm the only mom.  It's always like that at this particular park, so it makes me wonder if I should have been home sleeping in or something... :)

I love playing on the playground with Connor even though Daddy thinks I'm silly.

We helped Connor do some of the big boy activities and he thought it was pretty exciting!

After the park, we drove over to Joanns so Mommy could pick up some supplies for a new sewing project.  We wandered through the aisles and pointed out all the Mickey, Elmo, basketball and random other things Connor would recognize.  On the way home, we ended up stopping at McDonalds for a quick lunch.

Connor was absolutely adorable as he sat on Daddy's lap and dipped his chicken nuggets in his ketchup like a big boy!

Cousins

On Saturday, we got together with some family and Connor spent some time with his cousin Ryan.

We could tell how much he enjoyed spending time with a "big boy" and they played with some of Ryan's old toys.

I also joined in the fun and played on the stairs with Connor.

Let's go for a walk

On Monday, it was a little rainy out, but we needed something to do while Daddy made dinner.  I said to Connor, "Let's go for a walk."  I figured he'd run to his bike or stroller like he always does, I'd put him in and push him around the neighborhood.  But this time, he reached up his hand to mine.  We held hands and walked side-by-side down the street to the corner. 

Heart melted.

He still fits.

Yep, he just figured out that he still fits through the cat door on the gate.

He's loving his new gardening tools!  He hasn't actually used them how they're meant to be used, but he loves carrying them around and pointing out Daddy's tools and then his.

His fascination with Daddy while he fixed the fridge was amazing!  He was very interesting in watch and helping Daddy with his tools.

It rained a little during the week, so we had to go back to indoor play time after dinner.

Wishing he could be outside...

The fact that he knows how to "use" a knife was shocking to me.  It was upside-down, but it was adorable that he tried to cut his own apple at Subway.

21 months!

Well on his way to 2 years old!

21 Month Stats:
Weight: ?  (approx. 23 pounds based on our scale at home)

21 Month Milestones:
• Says "I love you" when we say it to him (heart melting...)
• Brings one of his sports balls outside every night when we play in front of the house
• Pretty good at identifying different types of balls (basketball, baseball, football, soccer)
• Can identify body parts on himself and others (Kitty included)
• Starting to sing the ABCs and Twinkle Twinkle randomly.  The kid can carry a tune!  Impressive!
• Getting into our routine of dinner and playing outside after so now as we clean up after dinner, he says, "Outside!"
• Loves going to the park, riding his bike, etc
• Trying to learn to blow bubbles, but will hold the wand and then spit into the air
• Still sleeping his normal amount - bedtime at 6:45 or 7 pm, I wake him up at 6 on weekdays, sleeps until 8 or 9 on weekends
• Wearing mostly 18 month t-shirts and 12 month shorts for summer
• Wearing size 5.5 shoes
• Will identify animals when asked (kitty, doggie, monkey, moo, duckie, birdie, fishie, neigh)
• Picky about dinner, but seems to eat pretty well at daycare as usual
• Loves grapes, yogurt, string cheese, banana (nana), pouches, spaghetti & sauce, mac & cheese
• Current food obsession: nana (banana)
• Will eat any food that he can dip (or just lick the dip off)
• Completed his second 5k in the stroller

Singing to the fridge

Connor singing "Twinkle Twinkle" while he plays in the fridge the other night.  

This might be the cutest thing ever.

The Lilac Fest Mutt Strut 5k

Connor and I participated in this unique 5k over the weekend.  This was his second 5k and it's pretty crazy to see the difference from last year.  I chose this race because I love Lilac Fest and also because Connor loves doggies and I thought he'd be in heaven with so many in one place.  As soon as I took him out of the car, he started shrieking, "Doggie!"  We got our number bib and then walked around to visit many of the doggies that were going to be racing and watching.

I followed him as he walked around and pointed to all the doggies.  He's never scared of a dog, but he was scared of the person in a dog costume that was handing out balloons!

He loved his balloon and I tied it to his stroller so he could play with it during the race.


Getting ready to start running!  We did pretty well considering I was pushing an extra 35 pounds or so.  I didn't practice at all, but we made pretty good time (37:40).  I only stopped to walk a few times for just a few short times when we were going up a hill because it was so hard to push the stroller.  It was amazing to see so many children and dogs make it through the whole 5k!


Once we reached the finish line, Connor saw them handing out bananas and started freaking out, "Nana! Nana!"  I took him out of his stroller and let him walk around.

We took a walk through Lilacia Park (smells SO good!) and he stopped to point at some of the flowers and dogs.

While we waited in line at the pancake breakfast, Connor ate his nana and charmed some of the people in line by us.  We shared a few pancakes and filled our hungry tummies!
