First Piggies!

It was a good attempt and I've been waiting for this day for a long time.  She still has no hair, but I just had to try it to see if it would work.  Of course, she lost one about 10 minutes later in the pile of leaves, but we tried!

Minion Birthday Details

#minionmania at our house over the weekend!

This was a low-key birthday and it was actually nice not to stress as much as I usually do about birthday parties.  I have to admit that there were numerous times when I started to wish I did more and wanted to start going all out with crafts, but I just didn't have the time and energy.  It ended up being just the perfect amount of decor, food, and fun for a small group and I know all the kids had a great time.  That's really all that matters in the end.

"Hi."

 Our little cutie somehow learned to pick up her toy cell phone and say "hi."

She loves that thing!  Wonder where she got that from...

First steps!

She did it!  At a few days shy of 14 months, Caylee took her first steps!

Milestones at 13 months

Somehow, all these big milestones are happening in such a short time!  She's growing up before our eyes and it's all happening so fast.  I feel like 13 months seems to be such a momentous age for her.

• I went upstairs to change Caylee's sheets and Connor ran up the stairs.  Caylee crawled in behind him which means she somehow crawled up the stairs all by herself! I didn't even know she could get up one step!

• Officially waving hello and goodbye

• First tooth popped

• Working on standing by herself


• Drank from a straw



• First taste of German food (brats, sauerkraut, etc)

• Trying to talk! Sometimes we think she's saying random words, but who knows? We thought we heard Connor a couple times which wouldn't be surprising since we yell it so often in our house.

• Next week, she'll spend her first few nights away from me :(  It's going to be hard for both of us (or maybe just me), but it's probably time to do it.

Minions! Connor's 1st Movie

On Sunday, we went to the movie theater for Connor's first movie!  Since he loves Despicable Me 2, this was the perfect movie to try in the theater. 

We talked up the big "tv" screen and the giant popcorn to make it sound really fun.  He got a giant bag and ate almost the entire thing himself!

He actually did really well during the movie!  I think the popcorn kept him occupied and the fact that he didn't nap made him extra tired.  He ended up on Daddy's lap for the last 30 minutes or so.  There were a few times when he shrieked out loud at a funny part when everyone else was silent and it was hilarious!

It was pretty special to enjoy this milestone with him!

I guess this is goodbye...

This week, I retired my pump.  

I won't be spending time each day with this view anymore.  It was actually pretty hard and bittersweet for me to do it, but it was time.  That first day was really difficult, but it helped that I was busy at work.  I ask my mommy friends to tell me that it was okay and I had to remind myself that I gave her over 12 months of pumped milk.  Her frozen stash is getting smaller each day and she's been doing great with cow's milk and water at daycare.  Of course, when I'm around she won't drink any of it, so that made me extra nervous.  It feels pretty nice not to have to lug that big bag around with me, but I also feel kinda naked without it! 

I've been nursing in the morning and night, so she still loves that and I don't see it stopping any time soon.  She's still a mommy's girl! 

"Uh-oh"

If you can consider this a word, it would be Caylee's first word.  (It's funny because that was Connor's first "word" too!)  In the last couple of weeks, we've started to notice that she uses it appropriately when she drops something...or drops something on purpose and then she says it.  I haven't gotten it on video get, but I hope I can soon!

Swimming!

While Connor finished his nap, I played with Caylee for a little bit in the lobby.  She made a few friends by crawling around and batting her long eyelashes :)  When we got back to the room, we got everything ready to go swimming!

Connor got right in, but then he freaked out once he was in the pool.

Caylee and I watched from the side while Connor tried to get more comfortable with the water...

And then it was Caylee's turn to try the pool for the first time!

She's a natural!

Connor got out for a little while and was too scared to come back in...


But I convinced him to sit on the steps with me and make funny faces!

Later on, we actually got him in the hot tub and he tried to "swim" and did really well!  So he warmed up towards the end of our pool session and maybe next time will be a little easier.  Hopefully, Caylee will continue to love the pool!

Caylee's Birthday

Just like every other photo-crazed mom, I took pics of her last night when she was going to bed as a baby and waking up as a 1 year old...

We also moved the mattress down in her crib the night before so she seems so far down there when she looked up at me!

On her birthday, I made a little collage of some of my favorite photos of her 1st year.  Surprise, she's in pink in all of them!

On her actual birthday (Wednesday), I felt bad that she had to go to daycare, but I splurged on a pretty birthday shirt.  She also wore her first ever jean skirt!

After dinner, we celebrated with a birthday cake!  (Connor said it looked like it had snails on it)

She pigged out on a big piece of cake again...

Connor asked that I take a photo of him too...with food in his mouth!

She opened her presents with a lot of help from her big brother.

He went shopping with me a couple weeks ago and picked out Brown Bear.  I couldn't resist getting her the book because he "read" the whole story to me while we walked around the store.

He also picked out a pink Minions t-shirt and I ended up finding a little pair of silver sandals later to add in to her gift.

Caylee got Connor an Iron Man toy for being such a great big brother during her first year!
