Our Big Girl

She's been trying all kinds of new foods every night at dinner and during the day at school.

Miss Piggy will eat anything I put on her tray and this day was broccoli and chicken nuggets!

We discovered that she loves when we stand her up on her feet.  She gets a big smile on her face and squeals!

Feeling the baby move!

I've been waiting for this day and I kept thinking I felt something, but wasn't completely sure.  On Thursday, I KNEW it was real and I've been feeling it ever since!  It happens mostly when I'm laying in bed or sitting at my desk at work.  Such a wiggly little baby!

17 weeks

So this was my way to pretend I was drinking champagne this week.  The urges to want beer and champagne are getting bigger and I had to find something to satisfy myself.  I think I drank the whole bottle in less than an hour!

I'm also currently obsessed with cheese fries.  I had them Friday and Saturday and they sound pretty good to have more right now too.

I feel like I'm getting close to being able to feel the baby move.  I feel little flutters, but I think it's gas right now.  Hopefully, it will be in the next few weeks that I'll actually feel the baby.  I'm also counting down the few weeks until we find out the gender.  Can't wait!  It's going to be so nice to know so we can start organizing and getting things ready.

Our little jumper

Connor hasn't really had an opportunity to try jumping. His exersaucer doesn't bounce very well and he's not heavy enough to really make it move. Luckily, cousin Grady's jumperoo was at Grandma & Grandpa's house this weekend and he got to try it out!
He got a big smile every time we would help him bounce!

Mr. Crankypants in Week 2

As week 2 comes to an end, Connor has given himself a new nickname - Mr. Crankypants! We say it with love!

He's starting to show his personality as he grows. He has his happy times when we think we might see a little smile and he has his cranky times when he cries and waves his arms like crazy. Daddy does such a great job of cheering him up and getting him to crack a little smile.

Our favorite face is what we call the "O Face" and it always makes up laugh.

When he gets cranky, he starts fussing for anything to suck on whether it's the top of his hand, a finger, or a sleeve. As much as I didn't want to, we had to start using the pacifier for those horrible times.

Breastfeeding is still going pretty well. I was getting a little sore by Saturday, so we took a break for 24 hours. I pumped and Daddy bottlefed for the day. I was hoping it wouldn't mess things up and luckily, it didn't. He was back to breastfeeding the next day with no problems and I was feeling a lot better.

We're starting to go on more walks now that I'm feeling better. I love being outside and enjoying the fresh air while it's still pretty warm out. Connor just sleeps through every walk!

Quite a scare!

On Sunday we had a really nice spur-of-the-moment day which is totally not like us. We're planners! We went to go see my sister's new house and spent some time with her discussing her wedding plans.

On our way back, Hubby suggested we stop at Old Orchard to eat dinner and do some shopping. Last time we were there, we had an ultrasound in the doctor's office in the mall and I was talking about how I loved The Bagel restaurant. We've been meaning to go there ever since. They also have the BEST pickles of anywhere and he needed to try them! So we ate and then did a little shopping. We picked out Baby's first ever Nike outfit on clearance for $4.97 from Macy's! As we drove home, it started to rain and it was pouring pretty bad when we pulled up to the house.

As I was running into the house, I slipped on the garage floor and fell. I was in shock for a few minutes and couldn't breathe. Once I got up, I was having some pain in my lower stomach and felt really sore where I landed on my butt/hip, wrist, and elbow. I quickly got into bed to make sure the baby was moving and I felt okay. He wasn't moving as much as normal and I was so sore that I couldn't even walk. In the morning, we decided we were too nervous about the baby so I called the doctor. They asked me to go to the hospital to monitor the baby and make sure everything was ok.

I got super scared as soon as I walked into Labor & Delivery and realized this could be it. I was in the actual bed with the real gown on and using the labor & delivery monitors like the baby was going to be born today! We watched the monitors for the baby's heartbeat and contractions for a few hours. The nurse came in and took blood & urine and the doctor stopped by a few times to check on me. He also did an ultrasound to make sure the placenta looked like it was still attached like it should be. After a few hours, he decided it just looked like I had some abdominal bruising and maybe torn ligaments, but the baby looked healthy.

It was a very scary morning, but I think we both felt a lot better making sure everything was good with the baby. It was also kind of a trial run with labor & delivery so it might not be as scary when the real time comes.

The one interesting thing I learned was that I've been having contractions and didn't know it! When they were monitoring me, the doctor showed us how the computers worked and pointed out some hills on the paper that were contractions. What? I didn't know I was having any! I thought it was just the baby stretching! So now I know more about what to expect in the next couple of weeks!

33 Week Update

Baby weighs as much as a pineapple!
This week your baby weighs a little over 4 pounds and has passed the 17-inch mark. He's rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and his skeleton is hardening. The bones in his skull aren't fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for him to fit through the birth canal. (The pressure on the head during birth is so intense that many babies are born with a cone-like head appearance.) These bones don't entirely fuse until early adulthood, so they can grow as his brain and other tissue expands during infancy and childhood.

It's really getting close now! Every time we go somewhere, I start to think about how next time we go, we'll be back with a baby! The stores are starting to get fall and Christmas stuff in and I'm realizing that I'll have a baby by the time that rolls around too.

Yes, I'm waddling now and, yes, I'm proud of it!

Not much nursery progress this week, but we're still *almost* done. I'm planning to work on filling nail holes from the new trim and then caulking the larger areas. I also started putting liners in the drawers and I have 6 drawers left to go. I'm hoping to get those done in the next week or two and then I can start washing things and getting them put away.

I'm on a strawberry kick again! I've got fresh ones for my morning snack every day, I baked a strawberry cake, I eat Special K with Red Berries for breakfast every day, I have berry frozen yogurt fro dessert, and I have strawberry yogurt smoothies for snacks when I get to work. Hey, at least it's healthy...except for the cake which I am eating all by myself! Here's some of my faves so I can look back and remember:I think I've gotten through the pregnancy pretty well and without too much pain or any complications. I feel really lucky to have gotten through this much and not really have to worry about the baby's or my health once we got past the first trimester nervousness. Now the morning sickness is starting to come back and I'm starting to get pretty uncomfortable. It's hard for me to breathe and I get tired after standing or walking for just a short period of time. The baby is really moving a lot and it's very uncomfortable sometimes. While I don't know if I'm quite ready for him to come out, I think I'm starting to get to that point. I know he needs to stay in for another 6 weeks and he'll be healthier that way.

I get scared.

I hear all these girls talk about the kick counts and how the baby is supposed to kick a certain number of times an hour. This week, the baby hasn't really been moving very much. I could go the entire work day and hardly feel anything at all. The more I thought about it, the more I worried that something was wrong.

I was all ready to call the doctor today and beg for an ultrasound, but this morning he started moving again like he used to.

Wake up, baby! I need you to keep moving so I don't have a heart attack!

Knock, knock!

I think it's really fun to lay in bed, pull my shirt up over my stomach and watch Baby wiggle. Every night after dinner, he goes through this "Let me out!" phase where everything moves and it feels like he's trying to get out.

Last night, we somehow got the weird idea to knock lightly and say, "Knock, knock!" and then he would answer with a little movement. Giggling, we tried it again and it worked! We also tried "Ding dong!" and he answered that one too. : )

Kitty usually comes to snuggle with me every night and I waiting for the day he goes to pounce on my stomach when he sees something move! Here he is hanging out with his mommy and baby brother. Ignore our mess in the bedroom as we hang our new doors!

24 Week Update

Baby's the size of an ear of corn!
Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long, he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.

I also read on my pregnancy app that he can hear everything going on around him. That means he's probably getting a headache from all my coughing, sniffling, and sneezing. I'm still sick, but getting better slowly. I feel bad that he has to hear all that crap going on!

On Friday, we went to see Fast 5 at the movie theater (haven't gone in years!) and I felt really pregnant when I couldn't even sit comfortably in those seats. My belly was too big, my pants were too tight, and everything felt constricted. Now I see what it's like to have that big belly in the way! I ended up laying with my feet across Hubby's upper legs, leaning onto the next seat, and trying to stay awake way past my bedtime.

Baby has been getting much more active this week. He's starting to wiggle more and we can see him move around. He likes to play when I'm laying down, on my left side, and when I'm driving. It makes my commute home a little more enjoyable when I get to feel him wiggling around but then I wonder if maybe he's feeling smushed between my pants and the seatbelt! When we were at Babies R Us on Saturday looking at some of the things we wanted to register for, we stopped by the cutest little bath towels. I liked the yellow and green ones and Hubby liked the blue and red crab ones. When I picked the package up to take a closer look, Baby did a little wiggle and I decided he liked the crab ones. Plus, I agree, they're way cuter!

We saw him!

Finally!

Last night we were watching tv and I started to feel baby wiggling. I lifted up my shirt so I could see if my stomach would move. It took a few minutes, but we both caught a little twitching! It was very light, but so cool to see! I'm so glad we got to experience that moment together. : )

19 Week Update

Baby's the size of a mango!
Vernix caseosa, a greasy white substance made of lanugo, oil and dead skin cells (yum) now coats baby's skin, shielding it from the amniotic fluid. (Picture yourself after a nine-month bath, and the need for protection makes sense.) You might actually get to see the vernix at birth, especially if baby is premature.

I started to get comments this week that I "popped" so here's a look at the bump...

I'm starting to get impatient to feel the baby kicking. I read somewhere that thin girls will feel it more easily, so I'm kinda wondering what Baby T has been up to in there. The other night, I *thought* I felt something, but it was so light that I thought it might be my heart beat. (Sometimes I can feel my heartbeat if I put my hand on my lower stomach.) I poked around to try to wake him up, but nothing...I think he's a sleepyhead like me! So I'm still waiting to be sure!

I found my new addiction...looking at baby clothes! I went for the first time this week and it's just so easy to walk from outfit to outfit and go "Awww!" for every single thing! The little preppy outfits and shirts with cute sayings are my favorite. I couldn't resist buying a few things from Target because they were so cheap. I got a pair of jeans for $2, two long-sleeve onesies with cute sayings, and a matching pair of pants for super cheap. Then we went to Macy's over the weekend and drooled over all the adorable little clothes. SO freaking cute!

At Target this weekend, I went to take a look at the play yard I've been thinking about. The color is perfect with our family room and it got great reviews online. This is the only one I've ever seen that would match, so Hubby suggested we just buy it now in case they run out. That store was out of them so we went home and I started freaking out when they were out online too. I was furiously Googling to find one and then stupidly remembered you can search on the website to see what stores still have one in stock. A sigh of relief! I found a bunch nearby so I ran to buy it on Sunday. And then I remembered Target's horrible return policy so we realized we better make sure it works before it's too late to return. So we had fun and put the whole thing together! I love it! Kitty seemed to think the teddy bear mobile was for him so we'll have to work on that.

I'm up about 9 pounds since the BFP. I'm not too worried about it because the doctor hasn't said a thing. Some people have asked me about it and start freaking me out when they say I'm too small. Really? Do you think that's appropriate to tell someone that's PG? Don't tell me my baby is too small! Healthwise, I've had a cold and the usual migraines are continuing. Morning sickness is still here, but not AS bad as before.

My food cravings have died down a little. I'm not really into anything lately. I still don't want certain foods, but I'm not having things I really want either. Cantaloupe is probably my favorite this week and pineapple is a close second.

I think that's about it for week 19. Looking forward to week 20 and halfway there!
