Caylee's Room Reveal

Since she came 2 weeks early, we still had a little bit to finish up after she got home.  We finally put the finishing touches on the room and I'm excited to show it off!

Connor has a little door hanger on his door, so I felt like she should have one too.

The name banner was a big ordeal, but I'm happy with how it turned out.  I spent a long time looking for the perfect way to display her name on the wall and I wanted something unique.  For a few months, I was planning on doing a tree branch with birds and the letters hanging down, but it just didn't end up working with the design of the room.  When I found these personalized felt banners, I knew it would be perfect!

The paisley bedding was another challenge because Daddy and I didn't agree on what to get.  I usually pick out all the little home details, but he had more of an opinion on this.  He finally gave in and let me get my favorite paisley bedding and I love the use of aqua for little girls.  The polka dot accents worked really well as an accent pattern that I used throughout the rest of the room too.  The sad part is that when we went to put the bumper on (just for show, not for her to use now), it didn't fit!  The mattress height along with the height of the bumper doesn't work with the crib.  Once we lower the mattress, it will fit, but I'm sad that it doesn't work right now unless I try to revemp it myself.

The wall art was really hard for me to find because I wanted something that matched and worked with the proportions of the walls.  When I saw these girly animal canvas pieces, I knew they would be perfect.  The borders actually have the polka dot borders and that sealed the same for me.  There are bird and elephant accessories in her room, so the animals fit in well too.

Moving on, I added the yellow rocker and floor lamp from Connor's room.  I also got the same wall shelves that he has to display some special photos and trinkets.

I'm waiting to get newborn photos back to put them in the frames, but I also added her first doll from Grammy and Grandpa and the embroidered name sign I made (see below).

I'm so happy with how this turned out! I had a vision in my head and it came out exactly how I planned!  The bunting is made from little scraps of fabric and the name and bunting ribbon are embroidered by hand.

The pillow on the chair was another DIY project that I worked on while pregnant.  I picked up the polka dot accent pattern and sewed a felt flower on top.

The bookshelf is the same one Connor has, but with a girly flair.  I picked up light pink and hot pink storage totes and filled them with some toys and bedding.  Most of the little trinkets are gifts that she got from family & friends, so it's nice to be able to have a place to display them.

The bookends were a bargain at $2!  They were broken and didn't match, so I fixed them with some wood glue and repainted them to match the bedding.

In the other corner, we added the long dresser with the diaper changing pad.

The bird photo frame wall hanging was another great bargain I found.  I bought it for $4 and added new white ribbon to match.

A labor of love and many months of work came together to make the perfect room for our little girl!

31 weeks

I guess I went a whole week without any pics to share on here! It was super busy at work and I've been working late more often which makes for a very tiring day & night.

The big news this week is that my feet started swelling...BAD.  I didn't have that at all last time, so I didn't really expect it.  All of a sudden, I realized my feet and lower legs are huge and my face & nose even look fatter.  Ugh, so gross.  I had to return my new shoes because I think they'll be big later and no more shoe shopping for me :(  But this gives me an excuse for flip-flops!

We made some major progress on baby's room over the weekend.  Daddy painted the wainscotting, put up the new white fan, and put together the bookshelf.  I organized clothes and accessories and played with Connor while he worked.  I also took out all the bedding to wash during the week...eeek! Getting real now!

22 weeks

A lot of my maternity clothes are annoying and they bug me, but I do love this leopard shirt!

I realized I needed some non-selfie photos for the baby book, so I made Hubby take one on Saturday.

Morning sickness was MUCH better this week compared to the last few, so that was a nice perk.  I got a cold at the end of the week, but it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought.

Still loving my cheese fries and I like to get my weekly (or bi-weekly) fix!

After way too much debate, we finally settled on baby girl bedding.  It took many hours of arguing and trying to compromise and both of us just ended up getting sick of it and were willing to give in.  Finally, Hubby just said to go with my paisley and I made him promise he wouldn't hold it against me for the next 4 years.  We picked up a paint sample at Home Depot this morning and I think he got pretty excited when he suggested wainscotting for the walls.  He's secretly getting excited to decorate for baby girl :)

Our Weekend

Daddy and I went out for a date night and Aunt Julie came over to baby sit.  Little stinker took advantage and did all the things he knows he's not supposed to be doing like turning the lights on and off, climbing on our bed, and being naughty!  But we forgive him because he's adorable!  I know they did a lot of play-doh and cleaning with his cleaning set while we were gone too.

Since Mommy was tired, we came home early and shared a little chocolate covered cheesecake on a stick with Connor.  SO good!

On Sunday, the boys let me sleep in a little and I came downstairs to find them hard at work putting the new blinds up!  Surprise!  Connor is such a good helper when it comes to using his tools with Daddy!

Great job on the blinds, boys!

Our special brunch party with Mickey to come in the next post...

Halloween at Home

Connor had SO much fun visiting both of our offices in the morning and I finally had to wake him up at 4:30!

Unfortunately, the rain changed our plans, so we weren't able to go out trick-or-treating.  But Connor loved watching for the kids to come to the door (in the pouring rain) and helping me give them candy.  "They coming! They coming!"

We entertained ourselves in the hallway and living room while we waited for kids to come.  Connor grabbed Daddy's shoes and took them for a little walk while Daddy ran out to the grocery store.

After a yummy dinner of grilled cheese and visits from Grammy and Grandpa, we played on the floor as it got dark.  Connor did some cleaning with his vac and we had visits from more kids.  At 7:00, we turned off the lights and everyone went to bed.
Although I would have liked to go trick-or-treating, I didn't have the energy to go out in the rain and he already had a runny nose.  He loves watching the kids come to our house, so he still had fun!

Our Weekend

We had a somewhat restful weekend as it was the first one where I was really starting to feel the pregnancy symptoms.  On Saturday, we went to Home Depot and then stopped at Portillo's for lunch.  A hot dog with a poppyseed bun (one for me and one for Connor) really hit the spot!  Connor loved watching the people make his hot dog in the window.

Daddy had a lot of house work to do and Connor was a wonderful helper!  They cleaned the garage together and I stopped in a few times to play and help with things.  Daddy let Connor color with chalk on the garage floor which was a genius way to enjoy outdoor activities inside!

I didn't feel very good, but Connor hung out with me in the kitchen while Daddy made a fancy dinner of southwest eggrolls with cashew dip.

On Sunday, Daddy and Connor continued with the work in the house.  Connor helped carry the tools into the house and watched Daddy nail some trim back on the wall.

They also worked on caulking the shower together.  Now this is what I like!  The boys work and I rest :)

Connor's Tool Set

Connor got a tool set from Grandma & Grandpa for his birthday and he's been obsessed ever since!  Every morning, he runs right to the bag to play and ignores his other toys.  Last weekend, he helped Daddy hang my new mirror on the wall using his hammer.

His favorite tool is the drill because it makes noise and spins!

Weekend Photos

It was a pretty uneventful weekend, but we had a lot of fun time together. Daddy was busy working on the basement and we had painters invading most of the house. So we went outside in the yard for a bit...We tried to find places around the house to play that weren't filled with paint fumes or too loud from equipment. We hung out in the family room in the morning.

We also hit up a little splash playground in Glenview. It was too wet to get photos near the water, but I snapped a quick one while we were drying off. I thought the park would be more pool-like, but it was really just for kids. All the parents were wearing normal clothes, so it's a good thing I had a cover-up with me. I liked our other splash park better, but Connor was still able to sit on the side and play with the little fountains and crawl around in the water.
And our last photo of Connor in the bedroom BEFORE paint!
