Caylee's Vintage Circus 1st Birthday Party Details

My birthday girl had a great day!

These parties get harder and harder with 2 kids and working full time, but we pulled it off!  I could have done so much more, but I just had to draw the line somewhere for my own sanity.  The decorations came out super cute, the food was good, and everyone had a great time!

DIY party hats with a special one for the birthday girl

Let's just go right to her wearing it because it's too darn cute...she was so upset that she had to wait for cake!

A couple hours before the party started, we ended up moving a lot of things outside because the weather was beautiful!

Cards for the guests to write memories and advice for Caylee.  Everyone wrote the cutest messages for her!
(I did this for Connor too, and I love that we can save them for him to look at when he gets older)

The snacks were also an important part of the vintage circus theme.  Everyone pigged out on circus peanuts, gummy bears, candy buttons, popcorn...

Cotton candy, Cracker Jack, animal crackers, etc...

We also had soft pretzels with cheese dip, hot dogs & turkey dogs, and some everyday food too.  Most of it got eaten before I got to take photos!

Connor's Drawings

Connor started bringing home the most adorable little faces.  At first, I didn't even think they were his because they're so different than the usual scribbles he does.  But after awhile, I noticed the pattern that they all looked the same and his teachers told us he draws them all on his own.

He's also been working on writing his name and perfecting his letters!

Because he's getting so good and I love his faces more than anything, I decided it might be fun to turn one into a pillow for him.  I had him draw with a fabric marker on fabric backed with pellon and then I put soft fleece on the other side.

He LOVES it!  He's been sleeping with it every night!

First Hairbow!

She pretty much has no hair, but she has just enough on the top for me to get a tiny little bow in now!

You can tell how much she loves it too!

So that gave me an idea...

Mama must make more bows in every color now!

St. Patrick's Day bows were first on the list.
Done!

Our Week & Valentine's Day Prep

Playing with Nana & Rob while visiting Papa

Day 1 of Valentine's Day box prep

Day 2 consisted of covering the box in stickers

Caylee tried puffs for the first time...and then threw up an entire container of yogurt all over herself.  #mess

Seriously.  He wanted to do my hair.

Valentine's Day Artwork

Artwork by my two favorite Valentines...

Connor painted the backgrounds on both.

We let them dry overnight and then we did the prints the next night by the bathtub.

Super Bowl Football Headband

I don't even remember how this came up, but the morning of the Super Bowl, I mentioned something about how Caylee didn't have a football outfit to wear.  Connor had his football shirt, but Caylee could hardly fit into Connor's old football hat.  Since we were snowed in for the day and everyone was recovering from being sick, I was able to find a few minutes to make Caylee little felt football hair clips.

I decided to start making her two of all her clips so we have enough once we're ready for pigtails (someday, right?) Since neither of us girls really care about football, at least we can look cute!

Minion Valentines

Connor is ready for his Valentine's Day party this Friday at school!

His obsession with the Minions gave me the inspiration for these crayon box wraps.  I actually planned ahead, so I had a little time to do something cute.  I can't wait to see his face when I show him the Valentines on Friday morning!
