Caylee's 1st Race!

 Caylee "ran" her first race with me on Saturday to support the Mother's Milk Bank.  It got extremely cold all of a sudden, so I was running around trying to find all our cold weather things to bundle up for the morning outside.

The boys were very sweet for deciding to come cheer us on in the cold and Connor loved the little cow he got in our goody bag!


Before the race, Caylee got out and played with some of the other babies in the VIP nursing area.  It was really nice to have a little toy area and diaper changing station for them.

The night before, I found out that strollers were not allowed in the 5k, so I could only do the 3k walk with her.  Since I didn't train at all, that was probably a better choice anyway.  When we started the race, I realized that everyone was walking super slow and I could get towards the front pretty easily.  Caylee and I pushed hard up the hills and made our way towards the front of the walkers.  When the track turned around, I realized we were in 5th place!  A bunch of people stopped to get water, so I ran right past them and kept going.  I mostly walked, but I did a few spurts of jogging when I felt like I could.  At the end, I'm pretty sure I was the 3rd place walker and the 1st place walker on our team!  We did awesome for not training or working out the entire spring or summer, so I'm pretty proud!

Our Week

A much-needed haircut

I love that we gave him a mohawk and he didn't even know!  Daddy shaved it off right after I took the pic, but it was pretty funny.

Why doesn't my child go to sleep? He reads books with his flashlight in his bed!

Caylee in her tracksuit and Converse!  It was super cold this week, so we bundled up with really warm clothes.  She's also been scratching her cradle cap a lot, so I put hoods on her as much as I could to keep her hands away.

Rain Man

We've had a LOT of rain and bad storms lately.  Connor begs to go "outshide" every night after dinner and we have to sadly tell him that we can't.  So the next best thing is sitting by the big window in the living room and watching the rain fall.  We've been trying to teach him what thunder and wind is too.

Daddy will open the window a tiny bit so they can feel the wind and a few light rain drops.

One day last week, we even read Mommy's magazine while we listened to the rain.  Connor and I looked through all 129 pages and pointed out all the things he knows!

Springy Sunshine Weekend

No one loves spring more than Mommy! Sun shining, window open, flip-flops...it's all great! So I was super excited for 80 degree temperatures and sunshine in the middle of March in Chicago! You wore your first-ever shorts and your little sun hat and we headed to the backyard!

Daddy and I worked on cleaning up the yard while you sat under the tree and played with your toys.

We went for lunch at Potbelly and you played with Daddy's chips while we waited for our sandwiches.

On Sunday, you got a new toy! Daddy put up your swing! Looks like a thumbs up!
