I've been dreading doing this. It sounded so hard to transition from the Rock & Play to the crib. It's so easy to have him sleep next to me when his pacifier falls out or when he starts to cry. I know he needs to sleep in the crib to get ready for daycare, but I really didn't want to have to deal with the crying and running back and forth down the hall.
Last night, NBC was out in our bedroom so I couldn't watch my show in there. I decided to hang out in Connor's room while I watched. And I figured I might as well rock him to make him sleepy while I was in there.
I had a migraine so I turned off the lights and he started to get sleepy. After a tight swaddle, I put him in his crib with his paci and some white noise on. It took a few tries to get him to calm down, but he ended up falling asleep.
It was so funny to spy on him with the monitor. For every little wimper, I would turn the video on to see if he was awake. We spent a couple hours watching tv in bed and it felt so weird not to have the little man with us...a little sad, but also a really nice break that we haven't had in 10 weeks.
I figured he would be back in our room sometime during the night. After the first feeding at 2 am, I put him back in his crib and left. I had to run back once or twice to get his paci during the next half hour. I heard some wimpering, but nothing too crazy. I think I ended up falling asleep after about 30 minutes of listening to him.
In the morning, when he woke up at 6, I was shocked that we made it the whole night! He ended up taking his morning nap in our bed instead of his crib, but that worked out fine.
I have no idea if we'll be able to continue this from now on, but we'll try!
Good job, munchkin!

Growing & Love
Motherhood has helped me grow as a person. I've only been a mom for 10 weeks, but it's been an amazing experience so far. I always had a hard time appreciating the little things in life before and I let stress get to me too much. I used to get worked up over small things and couldn't stop to relax. Being a mom has taught me to enjoy every minute with my son and love all the little things.
I love to see his big grins in the morning after he eats.
I love to watch him sleep peacefully with his long eyelashes hitting his cheeks.
I love that he giggles after he has a major blow out.
I love his little hands that hold mine.
I love how he stares at me while I feed him a bottle.
I love that I can hear his little giggles while I get ready in the morning.
I love that he falls asleep in my arms.
I need to stop typing now because it's making me cry!

9 weeks & lots of fun!
Week 9 was a fun week full of some great milestones for you!
Last week we found out you gained almost 2 pounds from month 1 to month 2. You were a brave little guy during your shots. I had to get a quick photo of you with your Bugs Bunny bandaids the next morning.

Tuesday, we met Daddy and some of his coworkers at Grande Jake's for lunch. You posed with the coupons while we waited for them. This was one of Mommy's favorite places to go when she was pregnant with you. Free yummy salsa & chips!

Thursday, your grandpa took us out for lunch at Panda Express and you had your first experience at Costco. You slept through most of the trip as we looked at all the fun toys and cute baby clothes. Later, you showed off your smile and new playing skills on your play mat.
That night, we had a lot of fun when we realized you found your right hand! I took this photo right when we noticed it. It was so amazing to watch you wiggle your fingers and stare at this new invention!
Swaddling seems to work now that you're a little older. Your hands were keeping you awake so this helps you fall asleep faster. Burrito baby!
