Our Week

Our week took a sad turn when we found out great-grandpa died and we had to go to Indianapolis for the funeral.  The kids had a great time with their family since they didn't really understand too much of what was going on.

During the wake, there was a kid's room, so I was able to take the kids away to play.  Caylee loved the kitchen and she found mama's favorite kitchen appliance!

After the funeral, we waited inside the church for everyone, so we played in the little kid's area there too.

The old school toys were pretty exciting for me and Connor loved using the washing machine!

 He asked me to take photos of him eating chocolate cake!


On Saturday, once the funeral was over, we had some family time.

Connor asked me to breastfeed his baby.  Heart melted.  Of course, I will!

Caylee figured out how to use her diaper pail.

Caylee's Hebrew Naming

Caylee had her Hebrew naming ceremony on Friday night.  We did hers a little differently than Connor's, but it was very special especially as a female member of the family.  To pass on a family heirloom, I took pieces of Grammy's Bat Mitzvah dress and made a small tallit and hairbow.

The lace is from the top layer of the dress and the edging is from the lining of the dress.  The lace flowers were just a little extra detail I made on my own because I thought it needed a little something extra.

I was a little worried about how Connor would do at the temple and it was also way past his bedtime, but he did awesome!

Not a ton of time for photos, but we got a few before the service started.

Right as the service started, Connor posed by himself with Caylee and said, "Cheese!"  We all grabbed our phones and just started snapping photos.  Priceless!

Connor did awesome during the beginning of the service.  I think he really enjoyed the singing and instruments at this temple (not the same one I grew up going to).

When it was our turn to go up, we all went up and Caylee was blessed by the Rabbi and congregation.

Connor did amazing!  He got a new book from the Rabbi to share with Baby Caylee too.

Daddy and Connor went home and the girls stayed for the rest of the service.  At the oneg, Caylee was all smiles for her big night!

Hebrew Name Ceremony

Connor was named Moshe Eliezer
אֱלִיעֶזֶר, מֹשֶׁה‎

We chose to name him after my paternal grandfather, Moshe, and my maternal great-grandfather Eliezer.

We arrived a little early to get ready. Aunt Julie came with a special gift for Connor.

What is it?

His very first yarmulke!

It fit perfectly!

Right before guests started to arrive, we sat down for a quick snack. This was also the first formula trial to make sure he didn't have any issues drinking it. He didn't even notice a difference.

Everyone gathered in the family room.

To start the ceremony, Great-Grandma walked Connor into the room to present him to the audience and Rabbi.
Rabbi Lisa explained the traditions of Hebrew names.

Aunt Julie, Grandma, Grandpa and Mommy all did nice readings about babies and family.

The final part of the ceremony was the blessings over the wine and challah.

The ceremony went very well and it was such a nice time to be with family & friends. You were perfect during the ceremony and greeted everyone with big smiles!
