Little Shopper

While Daddy was raking leaves this morning, I attempted to take both kids to the store with me.  I expected this to be exhausted and end badly, but Connor surprised me.  He got his own little "shopping cart" red basket that he pulled along behind me.

He started browsing the racks and then I asked him to follow me to the next area.  "Mama, I'm not read yet.  I'm still looking."
He pointed out everything glittery with a comment like, "Look at these pretty ones!"
That's my boy!

Thing nobody told me about little boys

Inspired & borrowed from here

1. You will spend a crazy amount of time clipping their weed-like fingernails.

2. They will also probably have nicer eyelashes than you. (This was my favorite one because that's his famous trait!)

3. Little-boy funk-smell kicks in sometime around age 3.

4. You will totally get peed on.

5. The wardrobe choices can be just as cute as girls.

6. All that said, a lot of times they just manage to pee right on their own heads. Memorize their shocked expression when it happens, it's hiiiiiiiiiilarious!

7. The instinct to turn random objects into guns/blasters/lasers/phasers/swords/lightsabers/arrows/cannons/etc. is something they are born with.

8. Even after many mature, frank discussions about body parts and the differences between boys and girls, you will definitely be asked -- loudly and publicly -- about your own lack of a penis and whether or not you pee out your butt.

9. At some point, you'll have to sack up and send them into the mens' room by themselves. This is both amazing and terrible.

10. Wearing a dress makes you look beautiful, Mommy. A single sequin on your shirt or a sparkly necklace earns you an upgrade to princess. Your hair looks gweat. Your hugs are nice. Your cuddles are the best. I wuv you, Mommy.

Mini Man Cave

What little boy wouldn't want a mini leather chair for his man room?
This is Connor checking out all the big screen tvs at ABT. He's too interested in the tv to look at Mommy for a photo!

My baby boy and me

It's three AM, they're all asleep,
and no-one's here to see.
As we rock slowly back and forth,
My baby boy and me.

His little hand is feather light
Tucked up against my chin.
I hold his tiny hand in mine,
and stroke his baby skin.

The house about us creaks and groans,
The clock hands creep around.
He snuggles closer to me still,
And makes his baby sounds.

I love these quiet hours so much,
And cherish every one.
Store memories up inside my heart
For lonely nights to come.

All too soon he'll be grown up,
His need for mama gone.
But until then I still have time
For kisses and for song.

Time for quiet hours like this
With him cuddled in my arms,
Where I wish he'd always stay
Protected, safe and warm.

And yet I know the day will come
When his tiny little hand,
will be bigger than my own.
He'll grow to be a man.

But until then he's mine to love
With no one here to see.
As we rock slowly back and forth,
My baby boy and me.

Boy parts

Someone had started to get interested in his lower area during the past week. He's been grabbing at his diaper a lot and he giggled when I was washing the area during his bath!

Picking a middle name

I always thought it would be cool to have a middle name that had some kind of significance. I really wanted to do something like that for the baby so he would have a fun story to tell about his name.

I don't know when I came up with this idea, but I think it was a few years ago. I always kept it to myself until it was finally time to brainstorm names. Why not use Bradley? I didn't like it enough for a first name, but it was perfect for a middle name.Besides Bradley being a normal boy's name, it's also where Hubby and I met and went to college. Not that we were super into school spirit or anything, but it's fun to think about all those memories. It's an important part of our past and I'm so excited to pass that down to our son.

"My son."

Today I was commenting on a blog and realized I typed out the words, "My son." Wow, that sounds SO weird! It reminds me of after I got married and had a hard time saying, "My husband."

I can't believe I really have a son! Well, he's still in there, but he's a son...

It's a boy!

I have to admit we were a little surprised at first. We've been going around thinking it was a girl for 3 months and we were wrong! I couldn't believe it when the ultrasound tech told us!

These are the "boy parts" but it's pretty hard to see what's going on. The tech promised me it was there, so I'll have to take her word for it.

Heartbeat was 140 beats per minute and here is an image of the 4 chambers of the heart. Everything looks perfect! And the spine looked good as well.
And a cute little foot! Baby T had one leg down and one by his head! He's flexible!
I'm still in shock 2 days later, but it's starting to sink in.
I'm so excited for my little baby boy to come into our lives!
