Pee-pee on the potty!

On Saturday, July 6, Connor did something very special!

In the morning, we were hanging out in our bedroom when he started pulling on his diaper and saying, "Potty!" I asked him if he wanted to go on the potty and he ran over to the toilet.  He kept motioning that he wanted to get up on it and was trying to get his diaper off.  He sat on both the regular potty and his little green Ikea potty for a few minutes, but nothing happened.  It was such a strange thing because he's never shown any interest in going on the potty before.

We ran out to do some errands and then let Connor pick out his own potty at the store.  I think he's going to do best with a seat on the adult potty because he always likes to do what Mommy and Daddy are doing.  Later in the afternoon, he said he had to go potty again and started heading down the stairs towards a bathroom.  I ran for his seat and helped him up.  He loved holding onto the little handles and sitting up there like a big boy.  He wanted to get down several times, but I tried to distract him by showing him YouTube videos of Elmo.  He also tried to play with the toilet paper and flush, but I told him he only got to do that if he went potty.

Surprise!  He peed with a big smile on his face because he knew he did something that was good.  I clapped and praised him as he used toilet paper and flushed the toilet like a big boy!
Since then, he asked to go potty one other time, but nothing came out.  We're in no hurry for this and I'm not pushing it at all.  I just want him to be able to go if he wants to.  We're so proud of our big boy!

Playing with Cousins

Connor had so much fun playing with his big cousin, Grady, over the weekend.  They had a blast together and Connor tried to copy everything he did.  Right when they first saw each other, they both grabbed their cups of milk and plopped down on a chair.

The three cousins ate breakfast together outside on the patio.

We all took a ride on the golf cart down to the water to look at the boats.

Connor kept insisting that he wanted to use Cousin Rae's jumperoo.  I think he went in there more than 5 times over the weekend!

The boys played basketball in the basement and took their turns getting picked up so they could shoot the ball into the net.

First Boat Ride

On Saturday night, Connor got to stay up past his bedtime so we could go for a boat ride on Grandma & Grandpa's new boat.  Connor had never been on a boat before, so I think he was a little scared and curious about what was going on.

He got to wear a special life vest and snuggled with Daddy to keep warm in the wind.

There was a lot too look at as we rode around the lake.  Connor pointed out some of the boats he saw along the way.

Although he didn't look very excited, I think he enjoyed the ride and next time will be more fun!
