Kite Fest

I heard about a local kite festival and I thought it would be a fun activity for us to do on Saturday. Usually, that kind of thing would be a Mommy & Connor date, but Daddy decided to join us.  Connor made sure to say, "Thank you," to him for coming with!

There were some professional kite flyers who had giant kites for us to look at.

Connor did a lot of walking around and pointing out some of the colorful kites flying in the air.

This one had a 100 foot tail, so I think it was the biggest one there.

The man holding this big kite let us touch it and smush it.  Connor was a little scared at first, but he thought it was funny when it kept flying into us.

We took a little kite break and went to the park for a bit.

This playground was really impressive because the kids could play under the equipment and crawl into little spaces below the slides and ramps.

Back to the kites...

We got really close to some of the families flying their smaller kites so Connor got to see them up close.  We decided that next year we could bring our own kite and try to fly it!

Ice cream for dinner

Connor has been much better about eating in the past week or two.  He's been eating more protein and meat that we offer him like fish sticks, corn dogs, hot dogs, and chicken nuggets.  We found that the trick is letting him dip his food in ketchup!  I think he feels like a big boy and he must like the taste too.  Sneaky Mama went out and bought some reduced-sugar ketchup so it's not as bad for him and he didn't seem to notice.

Anyway, Saturday afternoon after a nap and very late lunch, Mama and Connor went out for a little date.  We went over to Petsmart to see all the animals which Connor loves to do.  We had a little more time so we walked around the outdoor mall and browsed a few stores.  Unfortunately, it started pouring while we were on the other side of the mall so we had to run in the rain to get back to the car!  Mama was completely soaked by the time we got the stroller and everyone back in the car, but it was warm out so it wasn't too bad.  As a treat, we stopped and picked up ice cream for dinner!  I figured since we had lunch at 2:30, we wouldn't be that hungry and it would be a fun treat.  He has also been eating really well, so it was a little reward for him.  Connor has never had dessert for dinner, so this was a special surprise for him!

Mommy got an M&M Flurry, Daddy had an Oreo Flurry and Connor had a hot fudge sundae!  Once we told him to say, "Ice cream," he kept repeating it all night.  He loved his dinner!
